Simply Smiles Shopping Spree
By shopping off season and hitting the sales racks, Skylar was able to buy ridiculous amounts of warm clothing for the Sioux River Reservation in South Dakota with the donations she has raised for her project. Bryan and the off the folks at Simply Smiles were thrilled to be able to bring all of the bags to those in need.

Dave Wehrle’s 50/50 Birthday Challenge to Benefit LifeStraw
Dave Wehrle challenges you to support Ucan2′s LifeStraw Project in honor of his upcoming 50th birthday! Dave Wehrle of Madison, CT, will attempt to bench press 50 lbs more than his body weight on his 50th birthday. His goal is to weigh 185 lbs and bench press 235 lbs, but any 50 lb differential will work (weight 190lb/bench 240lb). Dave is donating $500 to LifeStraw and if he happens to fall short of his goal, will contribute an additional $10 for each pound he missed his target by. Official weigh-in/bench press will take place Friday July 20th. Please support Dave in his endeavor by donating today.
Dave would like to thank the Leckey family, particularly 5th grader Brett, for adamantly supporting this very worthy cause.
To make a donation, use the paypal button on the right side of this page.
Thank you!!

Donation from Guilford High School Honor Society
David Kirwin contacted Ucan2 after hearing Brett give his presentation to the Guilford PF group last year. He decided to take the idea of a fundraiser to the Honor Society at Guilford High School and they liked it. We just received a check from their efforts and cannot thank them enough!

CELC Water Science Workshop with Peter Cleary from Vestergaard Frandsen
CELC’s hed another Science Water Workshop at the Eli Whitney Water Museum in Hamden.
It was so cool to have Brett give his presentation to Peter Cleary from Vestergaard Frandsen, the company that manufactures LifeStraws today. When he got to the part describing the LifeStraw and how it works to everyone, he said Peter would explain more about it during his presentation, but Peter said he was doing a great job, so that really gave Brett a boost.
Then Peter showed the short film “Carbon for Water”(http://www.carbonforwaterfilm.com/) and gave a very interesting presentation on the company and its mission. We were so impressed with the forward thinking, smart company that we have become connected to through this project. It made us proud to represent them and support their product with our work.
