Ucan2 is a non-profit organization that was started in 2010 to help kids make a difference in the world. I was amazed by the response that 9 year old Brett got when he started traveling around sharing his LifeStraw presentation with adults and children in the community was amazing. Not only did we see first hand the impact that one young child could have on the world, but also how it could inspire others to find ways to help, while teaching life lessons to all.
Since Brett has been spreading the word, individuals and groups have joined our efforts in different ways. We want to continue to allow children to educate others on issues effecting other children, inspire them to join in helping, and give them support to do so.
Our second project began when Brett’s older sister, Skylar, heard Bryan Nuerenberger give a presentation on his organization, Simply Smiles, and decided to get involved. Through her fundraising efforts, Ucan2 is able to provide warm clothing to children living in extreme poverty on te Sioux River Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
Soon after, our third project started when Brett’s younger sister Abigail said, “Skylar has a “thing” and Brett has a “thing” and I don’t have a “thing”. She soon found her “thing” after taking a sewing class after school in First Grade when she found some material in the basement and decided to make silky blankets “for babies who need them”.
At that point, I decided to form an organzation, Ucan2 to support all of their endeavors and create opportunities for oters to join them. Our motto is “I can change the world, and Ucan2!”.
