Abby, age 6, said one day, “Brett has his thing, Skylar has her thing, and I don’t have a thing. After taking a sewing class, she found some material I had stored in the basement and figured out what “her thing” would be. She made a list of all of the places she could send theses blankets to babies who need them: hospitals, day cares, cancer centers.
I picked up 6 of her friends to come over after school to sew. When her teacher heard what we were doing, she offered to let me come in help the children in her class make them.
From Abigail:
“The reason that I want to do this is because my brother has a “thing” called LifeStraw and my sister has a “thing” called Simply Smiles, so I wanted to have a “thing” too. After the sewing Winter Workshop, I was so interested in doing sewing and so the reason is because probably five kids go to the hospital and need a blanket. I can imagine their faces.”
